Not so private… March 21, 2009

Private Practice – a spinoff baby that was born from Greys Anatomy – is definitely one of my favorites. Much like Greys, the storylines and characters are complex and there is always exciting medical mysteries being presented and solved. Addison Montgomery, the main character of the show, works in a multi-dimensional medical clinic in the heart of the Santa Monica/Malibu area. Each doctor has a different specialty so it is always very interesting the wide array of cases they deal with.
This past week was the heart-wrenching story of a young girl dying of  a heart condition and the difficult decision that her parents and the doctors had to make concerning whether to keep her bed-ridden and connected to medication, or released from the hospital with a certainty that she will die in the next couple months. This created an ethical problem: leave her in the hospital for the rest of her life with the possibility that she may live longer, or stop the medication and let her live a practically normal life with a inevitable death fast approaching. This definitely made me think about what I would do in this situation and what the right thing to do is.
Also, Violet is continuing to battle an unwanted pregnancy as she struggles to figure out who is the father. Both men want to know and demand a paternity test in the episode, but she refuses. Considering that she is a psychologist and deals with difficult emotional situations on a daily basis, this is really baffling to me that she doesn’t have the maturity to process what is happening to her and the effect it is having on other people. I’m looking forward to what is coming next with her character…
So, if you’ve enjoyed Grey’s Anatomy, I really think you would like Private Practice!

Two Words: Bachelor Finale March 4, 2009

I think everyone in America has come to find out that Jason Mesnick, the current Bachelor, has made his choice this past week. But it may not be who you think it is. It has been discovered that while he originally proposed to Melissa on the show’s finale, he was still in love with the other contestant, Molly.
Since I don’t know them or the situation personally, who am I to judge? But to Molly: If he did this once to another girl, who says he won’t do the exact same thing to you? Just be careful…Good luck to the two of you.

Big Changes on Brothers & Sisters

The 2-hour special of Brothers & Sisters that aired last Sunday was one of dramatic turns and new beginnings.

The episode begins with Kitty finding out that Trish is in labor and rushes to the hospital to be by her side. As she tries to get in touch with Robert, she learns that he is formally announcing his run for Governor of California at the same time, making it nearly impossible to make the birth. A couple hours later, with Robert absent, Evan Walker McCallister, was born.

At the same time, as Robert is finishing his speech and rushing to the hospital, he collapses on the way to the car. Rushed to the hospital, Robert is having a heart attack and the doctors must fight to save his life. Little does Kitty know that while her son is being born, her husband is suffering and fighting for his life.

The drama continues as Tommy has created an elaborate scheme to kick Holly out of the company. His illegal tactics become suspicious to Holly and the episode ends with the police ransacking his home for evidence.

The intensity of this episode had me captured from the moment I started watching. I loved everything about it. The acting, the situations, the sad and the heartwarming moments, they were all great. There were some amazing character developments revealed in this episode. Justin, Ryan Lafferty, and Tommy all will be distinctly different from now on. I was so glad they made it a 2-hour special, because I really don’t think I could have waited another week to see the second part!

Now is the perfect time to start watching this awesome show (hint, hint 😉 if you haven’t been.
